On Sunday we met up with our friend from Cornwall, who is a fellow WAGs and CRR member. We had booked lunch at the Swans Nest, so met there at 1000 and did a ramble up to the Matford Marshes and the Riverside Country Park. As all 3 of us are on mobility scooters, we are unable to access the Riverside Park due to kissing gates.

We made our way back to the Swans Nest, for our lunch which was up to the pre lockdown good standard. After our lunch we headed back to the Exe Estuary Trail, going south past the Turf Hotel on our way to Powderham and Starcross.

We made our way as far as Starcross Station, before retracing our route back to the vans. With the lovely sunny weather we really enjoyed all the Flora and Fauna, in the grounds of Powderham Castle and the Exminster Marshes.

Road trip to St Lawrence Castle ( Haldon Belvedere )

On the Bank Holiday Monday Gill and I did a mainly road trip, as we knew the weather would make traveling further afield busy. We set off from home calling into Motortone for a bit of exercise on the way.

We made our way through Ide and Dunchideock on our way up to Haldon. We crossed the A30 on the footbridge into Ide, and the traffic trying to join the M5 was stop go, with the queue as far as we could see.

We stopped for our picnic in the grounds of Lawrence Castle, in a nice sunny spot sheltered from the wind.

After lunch we headed east towards Starcross, descending from the Haldon Hills down Jackdaw Hill. When we reached Black Forest Lodge, we made a left turn and headed for Exminster along the narrow lanes. The road from Lawrence Castle to Black Forest Lodge, was a lot busier than a normal Monday.

The lane to Exminster was nice and quiet, the few cars we saw, we seemed to meet at a point in the lane were it was easy for them to pass us. From Exminster we went past the Swans Nest to join the cycle path for a traffic free journey home.
