Haldon Butterfly Trail

This is a short Level 3 and the most challenging of the 5 trails I have listed at the Forestry England Haldon location.

Location : Haldon Forest

Starting Point : Haldon Forest Park

OS Grid Reference : SX881849

Distance : 2.9 Miles

Route Surface : Mainly good gravel surface, but a couple sections of stoney track.

Category : Level 3

A mobility scooter is available for hire at this site through the Countryside Mobility Scheme.

There is a disabled toilet, which is accessible by all types of scooter or chair

Of the five trails I have reconnoitred, in the Haldon Forest for my website. This is the most challenging for a novice user of a mobility scooter. The first half of the trail has a good surface, while there are a couple of sections which are a bit rougher, on second half.

Haldon Belvedere

The Trampers that are for hire, at the Haldon Forest Park, are designed to deal with far more difficult terrain than this trail.

There is very important information for Tramper users and families with pushchairs on post 20

After going down along the Line of the Pylons, you then have a long climb and at direction post 20 Mobility Scooters MUST bear left to avoid steps on the official route for walkers. It would also be advisable that families with pushchairs, follow the same route.
